If you read my last post you will see that I’ve basically never had a focus in photography. I just kinda did it all. There for I did what ever people asked. Because of that I hated all of it! At least I thought I did going through it. It was because I had no focus, I had no direction. With no direction there are no results. When someone was interested in me doing photography for them I couldn’t articulate what I could provide to them and why for x amount of dollars. I was frustrated by the nickel and dime photographers that are everywhere and do 30 minute shoots for a quarter! Drop an Instagram filter on it and call it a day. Rant over.
Back to the show. I have found my passion not only for photography but for the direction I want my photography to go.
First:
I am a creative artist photographer. What does that mean? Basically, I want to do shoots with other creative artists. No matter what kinds of art you do. I want to spend some time getting to know you and your passion before you book with me. I want to hear about the art you create. How you got in it. Why you got in it? What drives you to keep creating it? Show me your passion! Then when your shoot day comes I want to capture you in that purity of what you love. I don’t mean all musicians will have their instruments in their images. Not at all what I mean, I want to capture that spark you have when you think, speak and do what you are passionate about. I want to bring that love out of you! What does that mean for everything else? I don’t do engagement photos. I don’t do weddings. I don’t do senior portraits. I don’t do newborn portraits. I love all these types of photography. I know people that do these and crush it! But it is not my focus.
Second:
Real Estate Photography – I know right! A big transition from creative artist portraits. When I was a kid I found my dads architecture drawing kit, He has a degree in Architecure engineering, and I started drawing buildings. I developed a love for buildings. I can sit and stare at architecture. I’ve always wanted to go to NYC just to see the buildings. So I want to take that passion and capture your home, office, or new construction inside and out. I want to capture a room and then walk you through the tiny details that will bring guests to your airBnB. I want prospective employees to see your building and office space and say, “I want to work there!” I want to show people that there is beauty in the details of the mundane things we see everyday.
Third:
Second shooter – All the things I said I don’t do for my portrait work. All the jobs I said I don’t do(as a first shooter) I want to help you capture. Calling all photographers! Do you need help? Do you have a large wedding? Do you have a large family shoot? Hi Hello How you duuuurin! I am here to help you get what you need and get through the day of your event.
Last:
And definitely not least! I will always have a call on my heart to do street and urban photography. I want to build a portfolio to make a hardback coffee table photography book. As well as sell my prints. I love walking around downtown going to local coffee shops and finding moments to capture.
I have never had focus like this before! Shout out to my wife for always believing in me. For always pushing me to get my art out. For supporting me when I was not even on the same planet as humble was. Thank you!
Also I want to give a shout out to the musician, Stephen Hill! For allowing me to capture him with no limits. No strings. My way with my vision that has lead me to find this lane I want to be in.
I have some shoots in the works. Praying they all happen. If so keep ya specs peeled for the drops!
Peace
J
